Arlenis Sosa's Beauty Must-Haves

at only 20 years old, model Arlenis Sosa is a top model and Lancome spokesperson. she has taken the world by storm, captured the attention of the most important people in fashion, and i'm definitely a fan! so, what beauty products does Arlenis keep in her beauty arsenal?

to name just a few...

Lancome Bienfait Multi-Vital SPF 30 Lotion
this moisturizer just really works on my skin. my skin is so dry, and this makes it look and feel more hydrated. plus, i love that it has UV protection. it's all i need.

Kerastase Bain Oleo-Curl
my hair is very curly, especially around the hairline. there are so many products that just don't work on it, but these do. they really smooth the curl and keep it that way.

Marc Jacobs Daisy
it's soft and almost juvenile. i don't like scents that are too overpowering. and everyone likes it on me!

Products I Want to Try in 2010

the new year is around the corner-- can you believe it? 2010! wow...i remember, like it was yesterday, being in 5th grade, talking with my friends-- we thought we'd never graduate high school because it was "so far away", ha!

all of that aside, a new year brings us the opportunity to start fresh, set new goals and look forward to whatever is in store for us.

and of course, there are always new beauty goodies to try!

i like to keep a list of want-to-try products, and the following products are in my top 3 right now:

i'm a sucker when it comes to mascaras. Dior's DiorShow Exstase Mascara claims to plump lashes inside and out and give lashes outstanding volume. according to my blogging pal Amber, the tiered brush is fabulous for grabbing even the smallest lashes and from her before and after pics, i must get my hands on a tube of my own.

foundation is a product i am very picky about, so unlike mascaras, i'm not always quick to jump and try a new one. Lancome's latest, however, has caught my attention. the Oscillation Powerfoundation is mineral-based and its vibrating applicator helps to provide perfect coverage.

another one of my cannot resist type products are deep conditioners. my hair is thick and coarse, but with proper care i keep it healthy, soft and shiny. Garnier has an fabulous-sounding product out called 3-Minute Undo Dryness Reversal Treatment. this formula is infused with olive, shea and avocado and promises to reverse dryness, nourish deeply and leave hair silky soft in just one use. since this is a drugstore buy, you just might be seeing my review of this very soon. :)

tell me: what products are you wanting to try in 2010?

Women's Wear Daily reported yesterday that Julia Roberts has been tapped as the new "global ambassadress" for Lancome. this is fabulous news, since i am a huge fan of the brand and of Julia!

"by her remarkable personality and career, Julia Roberts is an emblematic woman of her time," said Youcef Nabi, president of Lancome International. "her exceptional talent, her radiance and her strong commitments perfectly echo Lancome's values. we are convinced she will embody the brand in the most sublime way possible.”

Lancome executives declined to give further details on the relationship between Roberts and the brand, saying more would be revealed early next year.

Rachel Roy's Favorite Beauty Tips

fashion designer Rachel Roy built a following not only for her beautiful designer and diffusion collections (Rachel Rachel Roy is now available in Macy's stores across the u.s. and on rachelroy.com), but also her amazing personal style and beauty. i was given the scoop on Rachel's beauty secrets and tips on how she expresses her indian ancestry through her makeup. you'll love how simple her personal tricks are to looking bright, fresh and flawless everyday!

read on...

q: have you picked up any great beauty tips or tricks that you can share?

RR: i feel a great mascara can open the eye and instantly make you look as though you've have a good night's sleep, even when that is not the case. i use 2-3 coats of Lancome's Fatale on the top, bottom, and also on the back of the top lashes.

q: do you have a beauty signature? a fragrance or a lip color that you just love to wear?

RR:
because of my indian ancestry, i love darkly rimmed eyes-– a messy eye adds a sexy yet natural look to a classic outfit. to make the eyes smoky, i use Revlon's Luxurious Color Kohl eyeliner in Black Truffle on the inside of the lids.

q: what about a lip color that you just love to wear? what do you put on to achieve your favorite look?

RR: bright lipstick is a way to quickly pop an outfit and freshen up a look a la Ava Gardner in "The Barefoot Contessa". my favorite bright is MAC's Morange lipstick-- it's a great way to add a twist to a classic look.

q: any last bits of advice?

RR: i use Bobbi Brown's eye shadow in Navajo and another way to make your face pop is to fill in the eyebrows.

fabulous, no? i always love insider tips! be sure to follow her on Twitter (@rachel_roy) or fan her on Facebook.

what are your favorite beauty tips and tricks?

Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara

if you're looking for a new mascara, stop what you are doing right now, and go get Lancome's new Hypnose Drama Mascara.

seriously.

this mascara is AMAZING! i even tweeted about it after the first time i used it-- it's that good. it makes my lashes look incredible, every single time i use it.

two weeks ago, i was at Sephora with a friend, and the conversation went like this:

her: "what are some of your favorite mascaras?"

me: "oh, i'm loving Lancome's new mascara. it's called Hypnose Drama..." then i proceeded to tell her about a couple more mascaras i liked from both drug and department stores.

her: "what are you wearing right now?"

me: had to think a second --"Hypnose"

her: "wow! that is good mascara-- i've been looking at your lashes today thinking they look great. they're so full and lush"

me: "thanks!"

another thing that fabulous about this mascara is that it doesn't flake or clump and washes off so easily at the end of the day.

here are the before and after pics:

no mascara

with the Hypnose Drama, just on the top lashes

so if you want full, lush, amazing-looking lashes, get this. like now.

btw, i would have posted a pic of my own personal mascara (as i usually do), but my camera broke at some point between day 1 and 2 in nyc. thankfully, i took pics of my eyes before it kicked the bucket...

find Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara at your local Lancome beauty counter or shop online at sephora.com and lancome-usa.com

Inside Scoop from Lancome: Arlenis Sosa and Lake Bell at the CFDA Fashion Awards

as promised, here are details on the fabulous Lake Bell and Lancome ambassador, Arlenis Sosa from the CFDA Awards...

Arlenis Sosa with designer Esteban Cortazar

Lancome national makeup artist Tarek Abbas is Arlenis' go-to makeup artist, so it's no surprise that he created the look for Arlenis on monday evening. to create a polished complexion, Tarek applied Dual Finish in Matte Dore III and then added a touch of color to her cheeks using Color Design Cream Blush in Chic Cassis. to define her eyes, he used Le Crayon Khol in Black Ebony on the lower lash line and applied Artliner in Noir to the upper lash line starting at the outer corner. Tarek wanted to give Arlenis a soft, shiny pout so he lined her lips with Le Lipstique in Sheer Chocolate, applied Le Rouge Absolu in Bordeaux, and finished with a touch of Juicy Tubes in Dreamsicle.

Lake Bell

celebrity makeup artist Dara Klein created the look for actress Lake Bell. to prep the skin, Dara moisturized with Aqua Fusion Cream Moisturizer SPF 15 and Progres Eye for a soft, fresh surface. to accentuate Lake's bold eyes, Dara applied one of her makeup artist techniques and created what she refers to as the "reversed catliner." she first blended Le Crayon Khol in Black Ebony and High Definicils mascara in Black to the lower lash line, and finished by lining Hypnose Waterproof mascara in Black to the outer corner of the eye. to finish the look, Dara applied Le Lipstique in Ideal to the contour of her lips giving her a beautiful natural pout. for more details on this look, read Dara's blog post about it, here.

both ladies looked sensational, don't you think?

Inside Scoop from Lancome: CFDA Fashion Awards!

three fabulous looking ladies were wearing Lancome at the CFDA Fashion Awards monday night! here's the inside scoop on the makeup looks straight from the makeup artists themselves.

Michelle Trachtenberg with designer Behnaz Sarafpour

celebrity makeup artist Sandy Linter worked with Michelle Trachtenberg. she accentuated the eyes by first applying Effacernes Waterproof Concealer in Porcelaine I as a shadow base, under eye base and skin corrector, giving Michelle a silky soft complexion. Sandy then lined her eyes with Le Crayon Khol in Black Coffee giving it a smudged effect for a soft contour. to accentuate her eyes even more, Sandy applied Color Design Eyeshadow in Click for a smoky look and Bikini Golden on the inside. she then coated Michelle's eyelashes with Oscillation vibrating mascara to give them an extended effect and finish the look.

Mamie Gummer with designer Peter Som

Lancome makeup artist Andrew Sotomayor created Mamie Gummer's look. first Andrew applied Color Ideal Hydra Compact in Beige Diaphane and Effacernes Waterproof Concealer in Light Bisque to give Mamie a flawless complexion. he then applied Color Design Blush in Retro Rouge to give her cheeks a fresh flush. to make Mamie's eyes pop, Andrew first conditioned her lashes with the new Oscillation Powerbooster and coated them with Definicils mascara in Aubergine Royale to give her lashes definition and length. he then defined her brows with Le Crayon Poudre in Taupe and applied Le Crayon Khol in Black Ebony to the upper lash line. to finish the look, Andrew used La Laque Fever in Plum Wave to create a high-shine, vibrant pout.

Tallulah Belle Willis

Tallulah Willis popped by the Lancome boutique on the upper west side where makeup artist Lena Lejak created her beautiful look. Lena applied Lancome Color Design Eyeshadow in Lezard on the lid and Color Design Eyeshadow in Exhibition to the crease of the eye and a touch of Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir to line the upper lash line and create a smoky look. to make her eyes pop even more, Lena applied Color Design Eyeshadow in Filigree to the brow bone and Garment to the lower lash line. she then coated Tallulah's lashes with Definicils mascara in Black. next, Lena added color to the cheeks using Blush Subtil in Aplum, and finished the look by applying Le Crayon Lip Liner in Berry and Juicy Tubes in Cherry Burst to create a beautiful red lip.
